This review is from: HP Office Quickpack Paper, 92 Brightness, 8.5 x 11 Inches, 2500 Sheets (11210-3) (Office Product)

I’ve ordered hundreds of items from Amazon over the years and have come to depend on their packaging to protect my items — I’ve been very satisfied until I ordered this HP Office paper Quickpack. They just slapped a label and an invoice on the book and shipped it. The cardboard is thin (THIS IS NOT A SHIPPING BOX!!) and insidethis thin layer of cardboardis just one big stack of 2500 individual sheets — not a collection of wrapped 500 sheet reams.
I see from other reviews that I am not the only one to have had this problem. Personally I submitted a packaging review along with photos — I hope thatothers will do the same.
I do not know how they decide on type of packaging, but I think that unless a box is clearly a shipping box – which this one clearly is not designedto be, it should be protected inside a proper shipping box. AMAZON — you “dropped the ball” on this one.

A7S, F3SV, F3SC, A8SCand W7S Laptops

Even if Santa Rosa recentlyhad a period of intense gadget releases they still have an ace up their sleeve. According to ASUS, we have to welcome the arrival of five new exceptional laptop models. The A7S-7S006C model hasa 1440 x 900 screen. It runs on a 2GHz T7300 Core2 Duo processor. It is 17 inches wide and, yes it is exciting, it is equipped with the all-new NVIDIA GeForce 8400G mobile graphics card with 896MB of RAM.
The one you see in the picture is the F3SV model. It uses processors betweenT7100 and T7700. It has 2GB of RAM at your disposal and of course the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M graphics, only this time it has 1 GB of RAM.
The F3SC model, although alike, has only NVIDIA GeForce 8400 graphics with 384 MB of RAM. Both F3SC and F3SV have 15.4-inch screens with a 1280 x 800 resolution.
The A8SC has the same type of graphics card. It is also equipped with a 1.8 GHz T7100 processor, a memory of 1 GB of RAM and a 14.1-inch screen with a 1280 x 800 resolution.

All models come with web cams of different resolutions and ample connectivity.

DPP-FP90 & DPP-FP70

Koreans should be very happy people because, for now at least, their country is the only one in which Sony released their new compact printers. The two models, ‘DPP-FP90′ and‘DPP-FP70′, provide youwith dye sublimation and with high-resolution printsin just 45 seconds.
The reason why these printers are so innovative is the option of printing without the need for a PC. They can support 24 models of memory cards and have multi-slots. The ‘DPP-FP90′ has a 3.6 inch color LCD screen and the ‘DPP-FP70′ a 2.5 inch one. Because both models are equipped with ‘Bionz’, an image processor that supports upto 48M image quality, therefore enabling you to modify your photos beforeprinting them.
The printers are also portable, so when you need to be some place elseand you also need your printer you just have to grab them by their handle and take off. And also, an important feature of the printers is that they have acoating option so that your photos can be kept undamaged for a much longer period of time.

io-Jacket

Although all modern gadgets have the goal to combine good-looks with multifunctional technologyand effectiveness, this is somuch better then the others! Why? Because you can actually wear it! It has all the cool stuff in it like a Bluetooth and built-in MP3player or touch sensitive control pads. But the ability through which its promoted is its compatibility with GPSoverIP. It uses a hybrid GPS technology which enables you to look for theperson wearing the jacket even inside a building. Theperson who wears the io -Jacket can upload the information to a mobile phone or to the internet giving the watcher (probably a deranged parent) the opportunity of observing his/her every move. Londefrey, the company which produces it has sold one for humanitarian causes carrying out an auction in the purpose of saving money for the “Humans for Humans” foundation. It seems though that none other have been made for commercial purposes so we just have to sit and wait.

The other models Sony released are SR5 and SR7. Both cameras provide witha 2.7 inch LCD screen on which you can admire the videos you are taking. You can also look at a thing from a closer angle from now on, thanks to their 10x optical zoom. The SR5 has memory of 40 GB and can shoot up to five hours of 1080i HD AVCHD video. In this chapter, the SR7 gives it a lesson with its 60GB of internal memory andthe ability of shooting up to 14 hours of 1080i video. You can buy the SR5 model for 1100$ and the SR& for 1400$.

SGH i400 smartphone

Samsung released this little beauty, the SGH i400 smartphone. Although we already got used to Samsungs S60 Sliders, this one has the Symbian OS trademark in the upper-left corner. It is equipped with a 2 megapixel camera to make sure you don’t miss out on taking really cool photos even if you don’t own a genuine digital camera. And didn’t you got bored of navigating through your whole menu just to try and find an MP3. Well, they have solved your problem by adding up a special MP3 button. It is also equipped with A2DP, Bluetooth and MicroSD expansion for your pleasure and comfort. You also have full support for Internet Browsing (it would have been weird if you didn’t) and you are provided with a 2.3 inch display, so you won’t have to wear your glasses just to make a simple phone-call.

Nintendo Famicom Voice Recorder

The Nintendo Famicom Voice Recorder is an item that shouldn’t miss from any collection of a genuinenostalgic gadget collector. It s release is targeted mostly at Asia because in th ‘80 these little things’ grandparents were very popular. As for those that lived in the USA,it is normal that this gadget doesn’t particularly ring a bell because they got a different version of the NES controller, a smother one,
But if you’re thinking of going retro, Japanese style, here’s a place to begin, theNintendo Famicom Voice Recorder.

Sonic Screwdriver

Sonic Screwdriver is a gadget for all those DoctorWho fans that weren’t satisfied with just th TardisUSB hub. Remember that saying, “if it’s made likea screwdriver and it looks like a screwdriver, it must be a screwdriver”? Oh, and you are so very wrong! It actually has a pen on one head and a beam of UV light at the other.
So now you you can write anything you want with UV ink and not worry about other people reading it. Just imagine handing your boss an amazingly favorable report and between the lines your real thoughts. Ha, ha, ha what a subtle revenge. And the revenge costs only 12.99$ and 3 AG13 batteries. Theprice is set at 267$ for the 4 GB version and 213$ for the 2GB one.

Pillete

Pillete, the new concept of Bluetooth headset is so tiny, it’s almost invisible tothe untrained eye when you are wearing it. So you don’t have to worry anymore about looking like Robocop when walking down the street with it, but you have to consider the possibility of people starting to think you’ve lost your marbles and you’re talking to yourself.
The downside is the fact that people have different sized ears and the device might be too small and slip out or to big and not fit. People who often use earphones will tell you I’mright. But once they’ll figure out a way to make the Pillete adjustable, this design will be the future ofall headsets.

DC X725 by Benq, Digital Cameras

Benq amazes us once again with the launch of the new compact classy digital camera. It has a 1/2.5 CCD and can go up to3x optical zoom. The ISO sensitivity can go up to 1600 on photos and 4000 on videos. You can also increase the memory, as it has an SD/SDHC memory card support. The range of mega pixels is, for the timebeing, unknown, but we can assume it has more then the previous release of Benq that had 7.2. We also have no information regarding the price.

Search the iTunes Store from your Windows Phone 7 device

Want to search the iTunes Store from Windows Phone 7? You need the iTunes Search app. No, Apple didn't create the app. Developer David Tepper created the free app that allows you to search the iTunes music and app stores. You can't download anything, but you can use the search to search the Windows Marketplace for similar items. Not bad eh?

Yahoo apologizes forWindows Phone 7 data problem

So Yahoo's Mail app was determined to be the culprit in the big WindowsPhone 7 data bloat problem. Now the company has issued a statement of apology, sortof.
"Tens of millions of peoplecheck their Yahoo Mail from their mobile device each day, and we know they want their mobile mail experience to be fast, rich, and real-time. While our default settings on all mobile platforms realize this approach, we have determined that an inefficiency exists in the synchronization of e-mail between Windows Phone Mail clients and Yahoo Mail, which can result in larger than expected data usage for some users."
So that's the apology. But in another statement to CNET the company said:
"The issue on the Windows Phones is specific to how Microsoft chose to implement IMAP for Yahoo! Mail and does not impact Yahoo! Mail on these other mobile devices. Yahoo! has offered to provide Microsoft a near-term solution for the implementation they chose, and is encouraging Microsoft to change to a standard way of integrating with Yahoo! Mail, which would result ina permanent fix."
Okay, so they sort of put the blame back on Microsoft but at least they've figured out the problem. Now maybe one of the companies will fix it.

Windows Phone 7 update released - no copy and paste

Microsoft announced today that it is releasing the first update for Windows Phone 7. Most users have been anxiously awaiting the update that they thought would bring copy and paste support. Well, sorry folks it's a no go. Apparently the update that everyone really wantsis coming later.
From Microsoft's Blog:
"This first update for Windows Phone is designed to improve the software update process itself. So while it might notsound exciting, it’s still important because it’s paving the way for all future goodie-filled updates to your phone, such as copy and paste or improved Marketplace search."
If you have a Windows Phone 7 device you will receive a notification that your update is ready, but you will have to connect your phone to a computer to install the update. Lame-O! C'mon Microsoft. Everyone has OTA updates now.

BlackBerry to benefitfrom Nokia's shift to Windows Phone

BlackBerry is expected to see big benefits as Nokia shifts away from Symbian and into Windows Phone 7. One analyst predicts RIMcould sell an additional one million devices because of Nokia's move. Kris Thompson, an analyst with National Bank Financial has moved up hisBB shipment forcasts for 2012 and 2013.
"Kris Thompson, an analystwith National Bank Financial, has bumped up his BlackBerry shipment forecasts for RIM in 2012 and 2013, partly on “customer hesitation” withNokia as it moves away from its longstanding operating system, Symbian, towards Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS, and also a muchlarger smartphone market than even most analysts had expected.
“We previously suggested that RIM could win an additional one million units per quarter in the near term from Nokia’s transition so our 2012 estimate could be conservative,” he said in a note Tuesday."

Microsoft to pay $1 billion in deal with Nokia

The big Microsoft Nokia deal will cost the Windowsmaker $1 billion. Bloomberg is reporting that Microsoft Corp. will pay Nokia Oyj more than$1 billion to promote and develop Windows-based handsets. Nokia in turn will pay Microsoft a fee for each device sold.
The deal is widely believe to benefit Microsoft more than Nokia. Microsoft used to be a big player in the smartphone market but sat on their heels while companies like Apple and Google made huge gains in market share. Microsoft is almost irrelevant in today's smartphone market, but a deal with Nokia "could" help change that. It is believed that Microsoft desperately wanted to keep Android off of Nokia devices.
“This gives Microsoft scale and allows Nokia to rip out costs,” said Colin Gillis, an analyst at BGC Partners in New York, who recommends buying Microsoft shares. “Microsoft is getting the platform boost that comesfrom acquiring a Nokia for about a billion dollars.”

Will Microsoft announce flexible hardware specs for Windows Phone manufacturers?

Microsoft has had strict chassis requirements for all Windows Phones, but itlooks like the company might ease up on their restrictions. Microsoft is rumored to be announcingmore flexible hardware specs at MIX11. This wouldbe a good move for a company that finds themselves way behind in the mobile space.
It makes sense that Microsoft would ease up on their requirements in light of their recent deal with Nokia. Everyone has expected lower end Windows Phones to be part of the Nokia deal.

Sprint taking orders on first Windows Phone 7 device

Sprint is now taking ordersfor its first Windows Phone 7 device. The HTC 7 Pro is now the Sprint Arrive, and can be purchased for $200 at Sprint. Interestingly, Amazon is offering the Arrive for $50. Talk about undercutting the carrier. Obviously these prices are with a 2 year contract.
Now the big question is who wants a Windows Phone 7 handset these days? We're rooting for Microsoft, but the truth is Windows Phone 7 is reallylacking compared to Android and iOS. It seems a bit boring with the text-based navigation. We're looking forward to the next version when Microsoft will hopefully bring their "A" game.

Keyboard-less webOSphone leaked photos

According to the folks overat Pre Central, what you'relooking at here is the first keyboard-less webOS device. Pre Central has a reliable tipster so they're confident the device is real, but they don't have a lot of detailed specs to go along with this one.
This device looks to have afront facing camera, although that could be a proximity censor. The device is a little bigger than the Pre 3 and would likely have a 480x800 display.
Could it be a webOS Slate? or the rumored Stingray? Stay tuned.

HP TouchPad comingin June

Speaking at the HP Summit, HP CEO Leo Apotheker just said the TouchPad will ship in June, and gave a few other nuggets of information. HPwants PCs to be able to run webOS so they will be shipping it on all HP Laptops at some point. Hopefully, by the end of the year.
"The TouchPad will come out in June and from that date onwards there will bewave after wave of technology coming out to support the webOS platform. There will be a beta version for webOS running on a browser on PCs available at the end of the year and you'll see us putting webOS on that technolgoy on PCs, on Windows PCs I should add, starting from that point onwards and we hope to read 100 million devices a year. We'll put the same technology on our printers, we'll put them onPCs, we'll put them on TouchPads, we'll put them on smartphones, so you'll see this become a very massive, very broad platform."
Anyone see a benefit to running webOS on your PC? Let us know in the comments.

Palm Pre 2 gets official webOS 2.1 update

The Palm Pre 2 has the official webOS 2.1 update in hand. Palm released theOTA update today. The new update introduces support for the Touchstone's Exhibition mode, Voice Dial, and several other fixes and updates to existing apps. Check your Updates icon tosee if it's available in your area. It should be.
Be careful when you update because some things might break. I updated and all of my contact icons I put on the Launcher no longer had pictures attached. Most of my contacts still had their pictures attached, but the didn't show up in global search, SMS, or in the contacts app. Oh well, theywere messed up with 2.0.1too. Palm just can't shake the bugs out of webOS.

The Palm Pre 2 is theworst phone I've ever used

Yep, you read the title right. The Palm Pre 2 should never have been released because it's not ready for the public. It is hands down the worst, most buggy phone I've ever used. It's worse than beta software. The hardware is nice, but the OS is so buggy I would consider it alpha level. I had a Palm Pre on launch day and have been a fan. I'm still a fan of the concept of webOS, but I'm not a fan of is releasing phones before they are fully tested. I paid $500 forth is Pre 2 and I feel completely ripped off. It's going to back to HP tomorrow!
Before I get too far into this story I should just say that I'm not a novice. When I called Palm's support line I could tell that they assumed that I had some issue on my end. It was obvious that they though maybe my computer was messed up, or maybe I was doing something wrong. I assureyou, I did not do anything wrong. Everything the tech asked me to do, I had already done multiple times. I have had smartphones for years. I have 7 on my desk right now, and probably 27 in the closet. It's my job to know smartphones. During the last 5 days withthis Pre 2 I've had to wipe the phone 5 times, doctor it twice, and soft reset at least 5 times. I synced it with Google, with the Palm Profile, and with Yahoo individually after clean wipes of the phone, and still the bugs persist. Palm should be embarrassed by this phone.
When you call tech support they tell how stable the phone is and how webOS 2.0 is so nice with so many features. Well, I expect a few basic things to work without requiring a workaround, and without having to wait for an update. Those things are:
*.I need to be able to receive all calls. I can't misscalls and my callers can't receive messages about the subscriber not being available.
*.I need a data connectionto work at least most of the time if not all of the time. No, I'm not in a poor signal area. I can take the SIM out of the Pre 2 and pop it into my iPhone or Nexus One and it is fine.
*.I need all of my contact photos to appear everywhere they are supposed to, all of the time. It's basic. When you load the SMS app you don't want to see missing contact photos, at least not when you pay $500 for the phone. Yes, all my contacts have photos attached to them. When I open the contacts app I expect all of my contact photos to be there, and appear instantly. I don't want to have to wait for them to fill in.
The Pre 2 couldn't handle any of these basic needs. I'm missing calls, and I can only get a data connectionabout 20% of the time. I drove all over town today for 2 1/2 hours and never once got a data connection. Yes, I called AT&T and provisioned my phone with them.
I had so many issues over the last 5 days that it was almost like a Seinfeld episode. I chatted with Palm's support and then talked to their level 2 and 3 tech support team. They had no answers, except tryusing the webOS Doctor. My response - "already didthat." Their response, "oh."At the end of one of the calls the tech told me,"well, I haven't had a lot offace time with the Pre 2." He said this after he figured out that his test phone was doing the same thing my Pre 2 was doing. That was after he insisted that webOS 2.0 was not buggy, and after I insisted on getting a level 3 tech. Why waste my time if you haven't had a lot of face time on the Pre 2?
I got another call from a level 3 tech who had me do a bunch of things. I hadalready tried them, but I did it again just so he would get it. He wanted tome to erase all the apps and reset the phone. I had already done that 12 times. He ran me through a bunch of hardware tests hoping that the hardware was somehow defective. The Pre 2 passed all the hardware tests. I sent them the logs from my phone so they can go overthem too. They just won't admit that webOS 2.0 is sub-par, and buggy as all get out, but it is. They have not tested this OS enough, period. And I'm one of the suckers who keeps believing in Palm. Not anymore.
UPDATE: I was sent a new Palm Pre 2 yesterday and Istill have the same issues. Today, I updated to webOS2.1. The same issues remain even after the update. What a piece of junk.

webOS 2.0 Bugs Galore - Continuous Looping Charging Notifications

Anyone who reads this siteregularly knows I've experienced a ton of webOS 2.0 bugs. I've talked to all levels of support at Palm and there's just no getting around it. webOS 2.0 is notready for prime time.
I'll have more on that later, but one of the most frustrating bugs is the Touchstone charge looping notifications at you. It just keeps telling you that it's charging, and it keeps chiming and dinging. But you know that already right? I found that if the battery was below 95% it would work, but once it got to 95% charge it starting looping through the notifications.
You've probably heard thesuggestion that you put paper or a business card between the Pre and the charger. Don't do it. The answer is to replace the back cover of your Pre. If the spacing isn't exactly right between the contactson the cover and the charging terminals on the inside of the Pre, it will loop through. Just change the back cover and you're set. That's assuming the new cover you get has thecorrect spacing.

HP TouchPad, Pre 3, and Veer make appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

HP is really doing its best to get the word out about their new webOS products. The other night, Engadget's Joshua Topolsky appeared on on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and brought a bunch of gear with him. Topolsky has made no secret of the fact that he isdefinitely a fan of webOS, and you could see how much he likes the new products.
First he showed off a couple of Motorola products, the Atrix and theXoom. Those products got a nice response. But, then he moved over to the HP products. He showed off the Veer and Pre 3, but thecrowd really liked how thePre and TouchPad work together.

Pre 3 - a Pre, but bigger, and with a little more stuff on it

The Pre has proven to be abig flop, despite running one of the coolest operating systems ever to hit a smartphone. I've been a big believer in webOS since it was announced a couple of years ago, but I have been disappointed in the underpowered hardware that accompanied it.
Frankly, it feels like Jon Rubinstein, architect of webOS and former CEO of Palm, is always one step behind the market. He debuted the original Pre with a display of 3.1" at a time when the iPhone wasselling like hotcakes with a3.5" display. The Pre felt too small and cramped. The OS was cool, but there wasn't enough room to move around. He then followed that up with the Pixi, a slower, smaller device. He was forced to sell the company to HP to revive his hopes of webOS being relevant, and then after all of that his latest Pre 3 has a 3.6" display. That is so 2009. Does he not understand that the smartphones that we want have larger screens and better hardware? He has constantly touted webOS as an OS that was designed to be scalable and run on multiple devices, yet we get the same small devices. So give us a high end phone already. Please!!! I know, they've announced the TouchPad and all that, andI'll be getting one on launch day, but I really want a high end webOS smartphone.
The recently announced Pre 3 looks better than thePre, Pre Plus, and Pre 2. It has a 3.6" display and a faster processor, but the same amount of memory as the Pre 2. Maybe that's enough memory, but if you're trying to make a splash in the market to let everyone know that you really didn't die off, but are going to make this massive comeback, wouldn't you include a little more memory?
Did you watch the launch event for the Pre 3? When Mr. Rubinstein took the Pre 3 out of his pocket nobody cheered. He had tosort of encourage people to clap. The reason nobodywas cheering is because the Pre 3 doesn't look thatimpressive at all. There's nothing really new about it. It's a Pre, but bigger, and with a little more stuffon it. There's nothing that knocks it out of the park. Most of the Android phones today launch at 4" or above, and they're selling like crazy. Even Apple is rumored to be looking at a larger screen for the iPhone. But there's the Pre 3, stuck in the pastwith its 3.6" display.
I love webOS. Let me say that again, I LOVE webOS. Ithink it's the best OS on the market today. Its downfall has been underpowered, unimpressive hardware that couldn't make a compelling case for users to switch from their iPhones. Therefore, there isn't a big pool of apps for webOS. There are some apps, but if you want an app these days you really have to have an iOS or Android device.
I will be picking up a Pre 3on launch day and I'm hoping for the best. I really am. I hope I'm so impressed with this new phone that I throw my iPhone and EVO out the window. I have a feeling though, that it will just be like my Pre, but bigger, with a little more stuff on it. Please HP....Pahleeeze! Give us a really, really, really high end phone thatruns webOS!
BGR has a nice hands on with the Pre 3 at the link below. They think it's the phone they've been waiting for. I sure hope so!

HP webOS event video

So here is the full video of the HP webOS event from the other day. Better late than never right? These new webOS phones look interesting. My first reaction was disappointment that we don't have a high end phone. I was looking for a 3.8 or 4" display, maybe a dual-core processor, and 2 cameras? Well, the Pre 3 doesn't measure up to that, but it does look a lot more solid than the original Pre. Recent reviews by other blogs have been favorable so I'll reserve judgement until I see it.
The TouchPad looks really nice. webOS always seemed like it would best fit a tablet device, and it sure looks like that's the case. Can TouchPad take on the iPad? Stay tuned.

Verizon Pre 2 pre-order available now

If you can't wait for the HPPre 3 or Veer to hit the stores you can get a Pre 2 on Verizon for $99. Pre-orders are now available and the phones will ship on February 17. Ifyou don't want to sign a contract you'll have to pay$450 for the Pre 2.
You can order yours at thelink below. Interestingly, HP has a pre-order page up but Verizon does not.
The Verizon Pre 2 is now an HP product due to the demise of Palm. It sports webOS 2.0 on a "vivid" touchscreen display.
I love webOS, but I'd say wait for the Pre 3. The Pre and Pre 2 just don't add up to a top of the line phone. The hardware is underpowered for the OS.

Banned iPad 2 Promo Video

Did you watch the iPad 2 event the other day? SteveJobs showed up to makes his customary pitch that everyone needs the new product. He also played some videos for the crowd, but I don't remember seeing this one.Check it out and see what you think. Should this have the been the official iPad 2 promo?

John McCain claims iPad and iPhone are made in the US - WRONG

Senator John McCain appeared on ABC's This Week yesterday, and made an absurd claim. In apiece that aired on the show, a crew from ABC emptied a couple's house of all items not made in the US, and then tried to fill it back up with products that were made in the US. During the discussion about the piece,Senator McCain said this:
"I think it's obviously a recognition of the reality and the trends, that cheaper, lower-cost labor products will usually prevail over products made in higher wage and income countries. I would also point out that if you emptied that house--if youhad left a computer there or an iPad or an iPhone--those are built in the United States of America."
Apple products are not made in the US. They are designed in California but are made in China. Mr. McCain had better get his facts straight.
Frankly, I'm surprised Apple has not caught moreheat for this over the years. When I ordered a MacBook Pro a couple of years ago it was delivered from Shanghai.

Apple iPhone wins another customer satisfaction award

Apple is still on top when it comes to customer satisfaction. J.D. Power andAssociates announced thatApple’s iPhone has own the customer satisfaction award. This is the fifth consecutive year that Apple has won the award.

iOS 4.3.1 released viaiTunes

Apple has released iOS 4.3.1 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This release is a bug fix release so there aren't a lot of differences from version 4.3. iOS 4.3.1 does not work on the Verizon iPhone so Verizon users will have to wait a bit. Also, if you've jailbroken your iPhone you'll want to wait until a new jailbreak is released for iOS 4.3.1.
To get the update simply connect your device to iTunes and hit "Check for Updates."

BlackBerry Messenger coming to the iPhone in April- Hoax

We've heard that BlackBerry Messenger is headed for multiple platforms and devices, including the iPhone. Now,a MacRumours forum member says that Co-CE Jim Balsillie announced that RIM is planning to bring BBM and “other services” to iOS on April 28th. This is the first time we've heard a specific date.
"RIM had a Social Media conference today in Toronto, and my entire college business and marketing class was invited to the event. RIM’s co-ceo Jim Balsillie revealed that they plan to bring BBM and “other services” to iPhone on April 28 via the app store."
Is it true? RIM is very likely to bring BBM to the iPhone, but the April 28 date could just be rumor at this point. Stay tuned.
UPDATE: It looks like this story was a hoax. BGR reports that RIM issued a statement denying that BBM will be released to the iPhone on April 28.

Toyota pulls jailbreak ad campaign after request from Apple

Toyota made a bold move in developing a Scion-branded theme pack in theCydia store. As you know the Cydia store is only available to jailbroken devices, so it seemed to put Toyota at odds with Apple. Toyota was embracing the jailbreak community which Apple does everything in its power to thwart.
Apparently Apple contacted Toyota and asked them to remove thetheme from the Cydia store. Toyota immediately complied with the request and had the theme removed. I guess Toyota wants to keep good relations with Apple.

Apple releases iAd app

Apple has released iAd Gallery, an app for nothingbut iAds. So far, iAds seem to be very successful because they are interactive, and they don't take users out of the app. Some users may want to browse all the ads so Apple released this app with no content, just ads.
"The iAd Gallery is a celebration of advertising, featuring iAd campaigns from some of the world’s best brands and their advertising agencies. The iAd Gallery gives you easy access to a selection of thefun and informative ads that have run in some of your favorite apps. Use theBrowse feature to discoverads you haven’t seen, or tofind those you want to seeagain. Even lets you tag your favorites to a Loved section that’s all your own."
Check out the App Store for the app.

BiteSMS vs iRealSMS

If you're like me you probably can't figure out why Apple does not include contact photos in the SMS app, or in the Phone and Contact apps. I've grown accustomed to browsing through my SMS's, and Favorite contacts via the photo on my Palm Pre and Android phones. Luckily, if you jailbreak your iPhone you can get these features pretty easily.
I looked at two popular SMS apps, BiteSMS , and iRealSMS . You can Google them for their features. I installed both apps after reading varying reviews. Some people prefer BiteSMS and some prefer iRealSMS. I found iRealSMS has loads of features and seems more polished, but Iended up using BiteSMS for one simple reason. It's MUCH faster. iRealSMS takes a long time to load and that fact alone is a deal breaker for me.
With BiteSMS you don't even really know you're using another app. Your contact photos simply show up in the list of conversations, AND they even include a contact photo in the top of the conversation itself. I paid$8.95 for the app and I'm happy with my decision. Check it out in the Cydia store.
If you're looking for contact photos in your Phone and Contacts app, search Cydia for iPicMyContacts. It's a small app that does wonders foryour Favorite Contacts.
