BlackBerry is expected to see big benefits as Nokia shifts away from Symbian and into Windows Phone 7. One analyst predicts RIMcould sell an additional one million devices because of Nokia's move. Kris Thompson, an analyst with National Bank Financial has moved up hisBB shipment forcasts for 2012 and 2013.
"Kris Thompson, an analystwith National Bank Financial, has bumped up his BlackBerry shipment forecasts for RIM in 2012 and 2013, partly on “customer hesitation” withNokia as it moves away from its longstanding operating system, Symbian, towards Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS, and also a muchlarger smartphone market than even most analysts had expected.
“We previously suggested that RIM could win an additional one million units per quarter in the near term from Nokia’s transition so our 2012 estimate could be conservative,” he said in a note Tuesday."
