The Nook Color has apparently been pulled from store shelves temporarily. The ereader isbackordered at Best Buy, and Barnes & Noble's own site says the device is not shipping for two weeks. No reason has been given, but several outlets are reporting Barnes & Noble wants to make the Nook Color hack proof.
As you know the Nook Color was rooted and new unofficial Android OS firmware were available to turn it into a full blown Android tablet. Barnes & Noble might feel that custom firmware allows users to download competing e-reading apps such as Kindle and Kobo. If that's the reason they pulled the Nook they're crazy. People were buying the Nook because they knew it could be turned into an inexpensive full blown Android tablet.
At this point this is all rumor but we'll have to wait a couple of weeks to see if they do indeed hack-proof the nook. But, how long will that last before the hack-proof Nook is hacked again?
