Android passes BlackBerry to become no. 1 in the US

According to comScore, Android is now the most popular smartphone OS in the US. Android barely passed BlackBerry to take the no. 1 spot just 27 months after being launched. RIM's BlackBerry held the no. 1 spot for years, but now sits at no. 2.
"Nearly one third, or 31.2%, of U.S. smartphones ran Google's (GOOG, Fortune 500) Android OS in January, according to a study released Monday by comScore. That outpaced the 30.4% of American smartphone owners who use BlackBerry devices, which are made by Research in Motion (RIMM)."
Apple is in 3rd place with just under 25% of the market.
